Healthy Apple Crisp

Healthy Apple Crisp

This Healthy Apple Crisp Recipe is our take on the original crisp recipe that was invented in Britain and first published in a cookbook in 1924 to give you a classic dessert that can also work as a breakfast treat — enjoy!

Ingredients

⅓ cup flour
½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
⅓ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup maple syrup
⅓ cup coconut oil

1¼ tsp. cinnamon
6 cups apples, peeled, cored, diced
¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Grease an 8x8 baking pan with a small amount of the coconut oil.

3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, a ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt.

4. Once combined, add the remaining coconut oil, approximately ¼ cup, and mix together.

5. Once mixed, set the crumble aside, and grab another large bowl.

6. In this new bowl, combine the apples, maple syrup, remaining cinnamon, and nutmeg.

7. Once both bowls are separately mixed, add a little of the crumble mixture to the apple combination, then toss.

8. Once tossed, add the slightly coated apple mixture to the greased baking pan, and then sprinkle the crumble evenly on top.

9. Once the baking pan is ready and the oven is hot, place the pan in the oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the crisp is bubbling.

10. Once baked, remove the baking pan from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes

11. Once it's cooled slightly, divide it into your favourite dish and serve!

Serve with some maple syrup to add some extra sweetness! If you do, 1 teaspoon of maple syrup would add 1 Extra per serving to your allotments, if you're on a Herbal Magic Weight Loss Plan.
