Beer Burgers Recipe

Serves 4.

One serving = ½ Protein, 1 Starch, ¼ Veg, ¼ Free Exchange, 1 Extra


¼ cup light beer

8 oz extra lean ground beef
½ parsnip, grated
½ carrot, grated
½ onion, grated
2 tsp grainy mustard
⅛ cup diet bread crumbs
½ tsp dried thyme
4 hamburger buns (low-calorie)
Low-sodium salt substitute & pepper to taste
4 Tbsp fat-free mayonnaise



Boil beer for 2 minutes and set aside. Place beef, parsnip, carrot, onion, mustard, bread crumbs and thyme in a large bowl and mix well. Add beer and mix well.

Shape into 4 patties. Grill for 6 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

Serve on a bun with fat-free mayonnaise and other toppings as desired.
